This year we spent the holidays in Heber City, UT with Sam's family. We had a blast eating lots of good food, hiking and attending the baby blessing of Jon and Faith's son McKell. It was so much fun... and we even got a family picture! Hoping everyone had just as an enjoyable holiday season. Merry Christmas from our family to yours!

Timber Festival

Yesterday Sam had the day off...so we decided to make a trip to the Poconos Mountains. It was so beautiful! We happened upon a Timber Festival, where although we felt a bit like red necks, had a blast! Enjoy some pictures from our fun day!

Caribbean Cruise

At the end of May, my family went on a Caribbean cruise to St. Maarten, Haiti, and Puerto Rico. We had a blast! It was a belated Christmas present from my parents! Thanks so much mom and dad! Hopefully we will be able to do it again soon! Enjoy some pictures from the exciting week below:

Sam has finally done it! He graduated from Medical School on May 15th. I am so proud of him and all that he has accomplished! We will be moving to Philadelphia soon so that Sam can start his surgical residency program through PCOM. We are excited for the move and the next adventure in our lives! Thanks to everyone that came to share in this special day with us!

Gone Country!

For our 2nd anniversary, Sam surprised me and kidnapped me to Nashville for the weekend! It was a BLAST! I guess you could say we had "Gone Country". Sam was super creative and even provided the country "giddup" and surprised me with tickets to the Grand Ole Opry. Here are some pictures of our fun weekend!

Kimball's Blessing

Sam and I were fortunate to be able to fly to San Antonio over the 4th of July to meet our new little niece Kimball and attend her baby blessing. She is such a cutie! It was also nice to be able to see my parents, my sister Ashley, her husband Kevin, and Kevin's family. Thanks for the wonderful hospitality Ash and Kev! We had a great time!

Daniel's Visit/ Cedar Point

We were so excited to have Sam's little brother Daniel come out and visit us this past week! We had a blast and were glad we got to spend some time with him! Yesterday we went to Cedar Point to break Daniel into the Sandusky culture. It was a ton of fun!!!

Fun in Columbus

This weekend I went down to Columbus to visit Sam so we could attend the temple and I could see where Sam is currently doing a neurosurgery rotation. We had a fabulous time! Here are some pictures from our adventure:

First Anniversary

Wow! Can you believe it has been a year?!? For our first anniversary I "kidnapped" Sam for the weekend and took him to a bed and breakfast in Niagara Falls. We had a fabulous time and even got to cross the border and spend some time in Canada! Here are some pictures of our little excursion:

Apartment Complex Fire

The week before Thanksgiving our apartment building caught on fire. We lived out of a hotel for about a week and we were then notified that our building was now condemned and that we would need to move to another apartment complex before the Thanksgiving holiday. Sam and I were so thankful for the help of our ward members and other medical school students who helped us in the move! They had us packed and moved within 2.5 hours on the day before Thanksgiving. We were amazed by all of the help and were so thankful for all of the sacrifices people made to help us in our time of need. We are truly blessed! The following are pictures of the fire aftermath.

Waves at Lake Erie?

When Sam and I moved to Ohio, I was sad to be moving so far away from the Pacific Ocean... although we would be living on Lake Erie. My dad told me to just look out at Lake Erie and it would be as if I was at the ocean because I would not be able to see the other side. When we finally got to Sandusky, the lake was beautiful but I still missed the soothing sound of waves crashing on the shore. Yesterday Sam and I went exploring and found a beautiful park with access to the lake. Believe it or not, there were even waves! I was so excited and felt a little more like I was at home! Sam was even excited to find what he calls a "Cloud Factory". Here are some pictures of our discovery!

One aspect of living in OH that Sam and I love is the beautiful autumn weather! Here are some views from our back balcony. Our apartment backs up to a nature preserve. We love watching the leaves change colors!

Flammer's Visit

My cousin DeAnne, her husband Brandon and their kids Jocelyn and Kal came over for Sunday dinner. It was so fun to have them over! We had pot roast, potatoes, carrots, applesauce, cantaloupe, and rolls. I know... I even became slightly domestic for a moment! We finished off the night with delicious brownies provided by the Flammers. They were so yummy! It was so great to see them and catch up. We look forward to your next visit. We love you guys!

First Day of Rotations

Sam is very excited to begin his 3rd year of medical school. For his 3rd year he will be rotating with doctors to find the areas he is interested in. He thinks it sure beats the classroom! I am sure proud of him for what a hard worker he is! Here is a picture of him on his first day of rotations:

Going Away/Birthday Party

Before we left Kansas City, our good friends the Grahams and the Hopkins threw us a going away/birthday party. We sure appreciated it! We had a blast and we will sure miss our good friends in Kansas City!

Sam's Birthday

For Sam's birthday I got him a GPS and sent him on an international food chase. For each clue all he got was an address and a saying in the native language that he would decipher when the night was through. The night included an appetizer at the Panda Express, soup at Pho 97 (Vietnamese), salad at Macaroni Grill, main dish at Chipolte and dessert at The Cheesecake Factory. It was a lot of fun!
